Twin Bridges – a small winery in the Lower Hunter Valley, New South Wales, Australia.

Some years ago a few passionate enthusiasts with an interest in the craft of wine talked about making some of their own wine. Over time, the project grew and before long they were producing quite remarkable red wine and this has steadily grown to a small commercial operation of red, white and sparkling wines.

The original enthusiasts are Jeff Fletcher (Twin Bridges property base) , Christopher Bean (County Property Group) and Roger Schmakeit (Transpacific Pty Ltd) with ongoing support from Janet Murray (my wife). Janet had started wine-making at TAFE with friends to extend her Chemical Engineering background and interests, but not to be outdone the boys started to play too.

Over time, we acquired some serious equipment and our production at times exceeds our own needs – although the surplus capacity has worked to encourage more people to appreciate what we have to offer.

From the relatively humble beginnings of the first vintage in 2004, we have expanded to the point where we are able to share our products with a much wider audience.

In many ways the genesis of Twin Bridges was as a wine-making club utilizing surplus capacity and sharing the cost and the work.

The prime driving force of all those above, each contributing in their unique ways has brought us to where we are today.

Making the transition to a commercial operation has been difficult and with all activities in life the problems and failures have brought learning and experience.

At this time we have only a limited range available commercially, all hand made and bottled on site, using traditional techniques. I hope any purchases are enjoyed and any feedback is welcome.
